Abbreviations: k: knit; sts: stitches; rep: repeat; p: purl; i.e.: id est (that is is)
Row 1: *k1, p1*, rep from * to * until end
Row 2: as row 1
NB: The first stitch of each new row is always the opposite of the last stitch of the previous row. (i.e. If the last stitch of the previous row was k then the first stitch of the following row will be p).
These 2 rows form the pattern
