Crochet Motif: Free Pattern No. 9


                                                                              

Abbreviations: ch: chain; sp: space st:stitch, sts: stitches; sl st: slip stitch; tr: trebble; rep: repeat; yrh: yarn round hook;

NB: It should be noted that the crochet stitches described in the pattern are UK.

US Conversion: trebble (UK) = double crochet (US)

Row 1: 8 pineapple sts (*yrh, insert hook, yrh, draw through a loop* 4 times in st, yrh, draw through 9 loops on hook) in ring, with 1 ch between each st, sl st into first st to close
Row 2: 1 pineapple st into space after sl st; *2 ch, 1 pineapple st in next space, 2 ch (2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr) in next pineapple st, 2 ch, 1 pineapple st. in next space*, After group of tr at end of row make 2 ch, and sl st into first pineapple st
Row 3: 1 pineapple st in space before sl; st, *(2ch, 1 pineapple st) in each space, to corner, 2 ch (2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr) between 2 groups of 2 tr at corner*, 2 ch, 1 sl st into first st
Row 4: Repeat this last row, working one more pineapple st on each side on each round until there are 8 pineapple sts to each side

For the central motif, make 1 dc into a 2 ch space in row 2 after a group of tr, 1 pineapple st (for the pineapple st on row work only 3 times into same st instead of 4), 1 ch, 1 pineapple st, 1 ch, 1 dc, all into same space, then (1dc, 1 pineapple st, 1 ch, 1 pineapple st, 1 ch, 1 dc) into every following 2 ch space (3 motifs to each side).  Finish row with sl st into first st
